We served 55 of our seniors; a good time was had by all. Laurel Lake/Kindred Care will host the April 19th Luncheon. Hospice=June Greene= Health Care Proxy, 5 Wishes, clear up MOLST form, this allows you to post your wishes, offers free Bereavement services. Kim explains that this is not end of life material, it in fact enhances life. Matter of Balance Class= Melissa Lanoue along with Ms. Loring will host 8 “balance” classes for our elderly. Sue Holmes our outreach person has sent out a mass mailing of our 800 residents born 1941-1951. This letter consist of what is available to them here at the Center, etc. Kim handed out a copy of the letter. Sue continues to do home visits to access the need of food stamps, fuel assistance, etc.. We have two new congregate meals in March. On April 23, 2016 Katie McNulty Vaughan and Ellen Jacobson are holding a “Fix-It” Cafщ. There will be volunteers in different stations to fix things such as vacuums, sewing/mending, computers and such and refreshments will be served. The Fix-It Cafщ will be open from 1:00 to 4:00. Youth Services Report: Our Kids are OUTSIDE! YAY! Everyone is enjoying the refreshed back yard here at the Center. February vacation went extremely well. The kids participated in Arts and Crafts, Baking “Presidential” Cherry Pies and played Presidents Day themed games. Henry the Juggler (Henry Lappen) visited the Center to put on a 45 minute show for the kids and the Community. Field trip to Interskate 91 for some Laser Tag and skating this is always a good time for everyone. On Friday to wrap up vacation week they brought Beach Day to the Center, the kids had a blast. The photo booth was a big hit as well. On Saturday- February 27th LCC held another Hammer-Build- Glue Workshop with Mike Pisani from Pisani’s Workshop. We had fifteen kids participate and learned how to build their own wooden helicopter. The Center thanks Mike for his time and supplies, and Tony Patella for getting us the hammers from Home Depot for the day. March/April session of Hip Hop is about half way through, we have 15 kids signed up with two on the waiting list. Tuesday sewing has another full session for March. We decided not to take kids on a waiting list this time around and start fresh with sign-ups for the May/June session. The session of sewing for April is moved to May through June because of scheduling conflicts. Chess Club continues to be popular. LEGO Club is moved to Friday afternoons in March, the class has 10 kids who are really enjoying the class. Beginners Watercolor Class ran from January through the end of February. As always Mike Cohen did a great job with the kids. The kids are enjoying the Thursday Whiffle Ball Program along with Illustration 101 with Emma Huber. The Center is still looking for a knitting teacher….Fran suggest maybe contacting Liz Celli. T-Ball and Coaches Pitch registration was held on March 14th. We have eighteen kids sign up for T-Ball and twenty one kids sign up for Coaches Pitch. We are down eleven kids in T-Ball from last year and down sixteen kids in Coaches Pitch. The season opener is April 30th and the season will run through June 25th with no games on Memorial Day Weekend. Both Guys and Girls Nights Out were held on Friday March 18th. Guys were at Morris and as always drew a large crowd. Jen thanks Mike Cooney for facilitation the night while she was with Girls Night Out as the Center. The Easter egg scramble is Saturday, March 26th at 11:00am in Lilac Park or here at the Center if bad weather. The Center is hosting a Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course for kids ages 11-15 on Saturday, April 2. We have twelve kids signed up so far with three on the waiting list. This is a course our Middle School kids have asking for. April 5th starts our Spring Soccer program in conjunction with GPS Stateline. Mark and Simon will be running weekly clinics on Tuesday and Thursdays through May 26th. Looking forward many new things in Summer Camp! Director’s Report: Summer Hire- Kim tells us that we have 6 returning staff and are looking for a floaters position. We have 3 applications on file for Wednesday, Field Trip day and vacation. Life Guards: Senior- Emma Merritt along with Connor Lyon. Men’s bathroom update= Plumber is here today with the hopes to finish by 4/22. All the fixtures were pulled today. Summer Camp: Starting 4/1 ending 6/1 keeping rates as 2015- $60.00 a session with $10.00 additional for the afternoon. Coaches Pitch-Registration ends March 31. Cal Ripken Board has decided to run a Rookie Unit for 7 year olds. This Unit will be open to Lee as well. Kim is waiting to see numbers of 6 year olds- talked to Sharon Terry in Lee to see if we need to combine the two. March 31 will tell us what direction we need to go in. Soft Ball- Ralph Julieano wants to start one for 8, 9, and 10 year olds on Friday afternoons with Pittsfield / Adams. If we have the numbers Ralph will add them to the Roster. Kim tells us that the CORI process is being done for the helpers. If the numbers don’t fly then we will go with the Tuesday Clinics. The fee is $30.00 for T-shirts and such. Heather Heim, along with her son Matt Heim and Sara Fenton want to bring us a program through United Way called “Annual Day of Sharing” – Book Houses will be throughout Berkshire County as a book exchange. The books are fairly used and donated, they are asking the Center to store books and sponsor a Book House here at the Center….sounds like a great thing.
